Mahindra will launch S101 a compact SUV with new amazing features and specifications at an affordable price. This is a new compact sub-four-meter vehicle. Currently company is working on this SUV. Mahindra will also launch other two compact cars named as Quanto and Verito. These both cars are also sub-four-meter vehicles.
Mahindra S101 will launch in late 2014 as a B+ segment hatchback in India. It is a six seater car that features seating arrangement in 3+3 form. There is also news that may be company will also launch 7or 8 seater option. It is based on a new monocoque platform.
Price of S101 compact SUV is still disclosed by the company but expected to be lower than 5 lakhs.
Its other specifications includes long wheelbase that stretches along the entire length, windows line is tapered towards the rear and ‘A’ pillar starts at the front wheel arch. It also features wide front bumper, high mounted grille and bulk is also added to its nose.
Mahindra’s new SUV S101 will include two bucket seats at the front and single driver seat with a two-seat passenger bench. Its gearlever has been placed in the dashboard which creates legroom for the passenger seating at the middle.
S101 will be powered with three cylinder 1500cc engine that delivers 98 BHP of peak power. This engine is also powered in Quanto. It will not be a four-wheel drive version. Company had spent around Rs. 4,300 crore in the development so it is expected that its engine will have improved output power.
New compact SUV will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Its petrol engine will have 1.2 liter turbo motor mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox where its 1.5 liter diesel motor will have same mechanical specifications and build. There will be some other variants also that will be based on the same platform. It may include a luxurious version internally known as S102. This will be prices around Rs. 5lakhs for the base variant.
