MikroTik hEX S
Router MikroTikSetup instructions, default access credentials, and network configuration guide.
Device Overview
The MikroTik hEX S (RB760iGS) is a compact 5-port Gigabit Ethernet router with an SFP cage and PoE out on port 5. It is a staple choice for customer premises installations and small office networking.
It provides hardware encryption acceleration (IPsec throughput over 400 Mbps) and microSD storage for Dude server or logs without moving parts.
When used as a WISP customer gateway, technicians configure ether1 for the WAN uplink (DHCP or PPPoE) and bridge ether2 through ether5 for local distribution.
Use our free MikroTik script generator to build Station-Bridge, PPPoE, AP, or full WISP router scripts with one click.

Connect the power adapter. Plug your PC into ether2, ether3, ether4, or ether5. Do not plug into ether1 initially as it is the default WAN port.
Step-by-Step Configuration Steps
- 1 Open WinBox, click the Neighbors tab, and select the hEX S router.
- 2 Log in as 'admin' with no password. Open New Terminal.
- 3 Enter Safe Mode by pressing Ctrl+X so changes will revert if you get disconnected.
- 4 Paste the generated router script (PPPoE Client, DHCP Server, or WISP Router).
- 5 Connect the upstream ISP cable into ether1 (WAN).
- 6 Check IP > DHCP Client or Interfaces > PPPoE Client to verify the public address assignment.
- 7 Once connection is confirmed, press Ctrl+X again to exit Safe Mode and save the configuration.
